Esme’s parents nominate Laura as their NICU Superhero

Today’s nomination for our NICU Superhero award comes from Steven and Michelle who are parents to baby Esme. Esme was born prematurely, arriving 4 and a half weeks early and weighing just 5 lbs. For the first few weeks of her life she was cared for in the neonatal unit at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, Steven told us:

"Our daughter Esme was born on the 28th April and was in the Neonatal Unit for a few days before graduating to the Special Care Baby Unit. After two weeks Esme was doing really well so we were allowed to take her home.

All of the staff in the unit were absolutely brilliant and deserve an award, but if we had to nominate one nurse we would love to nominate Laura Livingstone. Laura was not only brilliant with Esme, but was also great with her big sister Freya too whenever she came to visit."

Congratulations to Laura! Steven sent us some lovely photos of Laura with his little girls and you can see them on our Facebook page. Esme has been home now for a few months and we are told she is doing really well, splendid news.

Calling all neonatal units, help spread the word about our search for NICU Superheroes
We have designed a poster which unit staff can print off and display so that more parents can learn about our quest! You can find the poster here.
