Ruby from St James's University Hospital in Leeds is Nicola and Liam's NICU Superhero!

Nicola and Liam have nominated Ruby from St James's University Hospital in Leeds to be crowned NICU Superhero this week because she was amazing throughout the whole of Nicola and Liam's twin boy's neonatal journey.

Chester and Charlie were born at 29 weeks gestation at Barnsley Hospital, weighing 2lb 8oz. A week later, they were transferred to St James's Hospital where they spent 7 weeks.

"The transfer was in the late evening and I didn't get to go with my boys so as you can imagine, I was an absolute mess when I arrived at the hospital to greet them.

Ruby was there to meet us on our first night and she showed us around and got us settled in. I warmed to her immediately. Her warm, friendly smile put me at ease straight away.

After a couple of weeks, we really got to know Ruby and we soon realised what an excellent and professional nurse she was. The level of care that she gave the boys was always 100%.

When it was time to say goodbye to Ruby, I wrapped my arms around her and didn't want to let go.

She will always have a place in our hearts."

Wow-what a truly deserved award! Congratulations, Ruby. Your warm and friendly aura makes a real difference to families like Nicola and Liam's.

Chester and Charlie are doing really well and have hit all the milestones they should have.
