St Michael's NICU in Bristol celebrates 1 year of vCreate

On Christmas Day 2017, the neonatal unit at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol launched vCreate, an app that allows nursing staff to record video diaries for parents of babies born prematurely, or too poorly to go home. The videos are recorded on iPads and sent securely to parents’ smartphones and tablets, helping them feel connected to their babies when they are apart. This service has been funded by the hospital’s Special Care Baby Charity, Cots for Tots, who have just renewed their sponsorship for a second year, so that more families can be supported through this difficult time.

To mark one year of vCreate at the hospital, we created this video, where parents who have benefited from the service shared their experience of the system. Featuring ‘now’ and ‘then’ photos of children who have spent time in the neonatal unit, it catches a glimpse of the journey's these families have been on.

We'd like to thank all the parents who took part in the video, and also Cots for Tots, for their continued support.
