Video to Show What to Expect from your Child’s Follow-up Appointment
18 April 2024
The neonatal journey doesn't always end at discharge from the neonatal unit. Many families may need to attend follow-up appointments to check their baby’s ongoing growth and development.
Parents often feel anxious about attending these appointments and can be unsure about what to expect. Understanding the nature of these appointments and knowing how to prepare beforehand can greatly assist families as they navigate this new phase of their child’s neonatal journey.
Last year, we collaborated with the Canadian Premature Babies Foundation and the Canadian Neonatal Follow-Up Network to create a video resource illustrating a typical day in the Follow-up clinic for Canadian families. This year, we’re pleased to bring the video to the UK.
We are thrilled to have partnered with Neonatal and Paediatric Physiotherapy teams in NHS Scotland to adapt the video to help UK families understand what to expect during their child’s follow-up appointments.
The video follows little JoJo and their family throughout a day in the Follow-up clinic, from preparing the necessary items to bring, to the skills the clinician assesses, and even highlights the how secure video service, vCreate, can be utilised to show JoJo’s development at home.
The full video is available to watch and share on our YouTube channel.
