Elizabeth has nominated Trisha from Glasgow as her PICU Superstar!

When Elizabeth Morrissey's five year old daughter, Sophie, was recently admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, both she and her little girl were well taken care of. Sophie was admitted with Rhinovirus and Aspiration Pneumonia and went on to spend five days in the Intensive Care Unit. Once home, Elizabeth got in touch to nominate a member of the team that cared for Sophie for our PICU Superstar Award, telling us:

"We thought long and hard about who to nominate as the care our daughter received was second to none! All the PICU nurses were fantastic and as a very anxious parent, helped me feel more at ease knowing she was left in safe hands.

The PICU nurse that stood out to us was Trisha Couper. She was lovely and took it upon herself to explain things in detail. She would offer a listening ear, a reassuring word and help with any issues. She basically went above and beyond; nothing was too much trouble.

We can't thank you all enough. It was a really scary time but Sophie's home now thankfully and doing really well."

Congratulations to Trisha! It must be a very unnerving time for a parent to see their child admitted to the Intensive Care Unit under normal circumstances, let alone during COVID. Well done team PICU.
